Frame

Just as Evidence-Based Medicine frames the right question to find external guidance through science, Spirit Guided Health includes asking the “right” questions to access inner guidance.

Asking the “right” question is as much about attitude as the content of the question. Most of us have a continuous stream of chatter that runs though our awareness, some of which can be highly critical…”What’s wrong with me?” Why do I always do this?” “Why am I so fat?” “Am I good enough?” Laced with judgment and criticism we are unlikely to get inspiring answers. Such attitudes breed fear that disconnects us from inner wisdom.

Framing better questions begins with an attitude of trust. Trust that we are whole, that we do have the answers within, that we are connected to a wisdom larger than we can conceive of. Trust that when we open our hearts with genuine interest and kindness, we will discover truth and experience greater freedom in our lives.

This path of genuine enquiry is a sacred one, an act of self-compassion. Questions may arise any time of the day or night and in any setting. In addition, arranging your environment to facilitate questions can be healing itself. Consider setting aside time for solitude and creating a space that feels inspiring to you. Journaling your questions, and the answers that come, can be helpful too.

There are an infinite number of questions we can ask. Many involve questions in which we ask for understanding or ask for guidance. A few examples (what you ask or the way you frame yours may be very different):

“What is it I’m really afraid of …?”

“How can I get more clarity on…?”

“What’s blocking me from…?”

“Why do I feel resentful of…?”

“Is the way I see this really true…?”

“What would be really fun today…?”

“How can I better care for my body…?”

“What can I do to lose 10 lbs…?”

“How can I heal with…?”

“How can I find comfort in the face of my fear…?”

“How can I express my love to…?”

“How can I be more compassionate…?”

“What do I need to say to…?”

“What’s the next step…?”

“What’s my best service…?”

To cultivate your experience of balance and wholeness consider questions that touch on your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.

When you are overwhelmed by a situation or feel stuck and have a hard time finding questions, the best question may be, “What are the questions I need to ask…?”

What questions would be helpful for you to begin asking now?
