The Office of Civil Rights is part of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. It enforces a number of civil rights laws and HIPAA, which protects the privacy of health information. This resource provides information about these laws and enables you to file a complaint if you believe your rights were violated.

FindLaw is a commercial resource stating they are the most trafficked legal website. The link to this part of their website takes you to an Index of Health Care Laws by state. It covers state-specific health care laws relating to such issues as privacy of medical records, abortion, euthanasia, Living Wills and Durable Power of Attorney.
